Display Home & Willowbark Park Launch

Willowbark Park and Display Home Officially Launched

It was a pleasure to welcome more than 400 people to celebrate a significant milestone for LUMA – the official launch of Willowbark Park and the opening of the new display home in Sunshine North.

It was a fantastic opportunity to welcome our very first residents and connect with the broader Sunshine North community. The day was filled with family-friendly activities, local engagement, and a true sense of celebration as the growing LUMA neighbourhood continues to take shape.

The morning began with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony to open Willowbark Park, led by Development Victoria Acting CEO, Niall Cunningham. The new park is a central feature of the LUMA development, designed to offer residents and the wider community a welcoming, inclusive green space to gather and enjoy.

Willowbark Park, designed by MDG Landscape Architects, spans over 3,600m² and includes two custom-built shelters, picnic seating, electric BBQs, expansive open lawns, and a nature-inspired playground featuring climbing structures, timber steppers, and balance beams. The design prioritises natural elements and sustainability, with over 40 new trees planted to complement the existing mature canopy.

The launch event featured a variety of Easter-themed activities that delighted attendees of all ages. Children enjoyed an Easter Egg Hunt, face painting, and a visit from the Easter Bunny, while the playground quickly became a favourite spot for families. Adults took the opportunity to relax with coffee from the onsite cart and explore the new amenities.

A standout feature of the playground was the introduction of three hand-carved timber wombats, created by Indigenous artist Glenn Romanis. Guests were invited to suggest names for the wombats, with the final selections to be engraved in the coming weeks.

Visitors also had the opportunity to tour the brand-new three-bedroom display home, offering a first-hand look at the quality design and finishes that LUMA homes will deliver. Inside, guests enjoyed a gourmet truffle tasting experience, adding a unique and memorable touch to the day.

The event also marked the completion of Stage One homes, with our first residents now moved in and more set to join the community over the coming months. With approximately 300 homes planned at full completion, LUMA will provide a range of high-quality, modern homes for individuals and families seeking a connected lifestyle in Melbourne’s growing west.

If you weren’t able to attend the event, we invite you to visit the display home and suite, now open for inspection on Wednesdays from 2–3pm and Saturdays and Sundays from 1–2pm at 14 Spotted Gum Crescent, Sunshine North.
